The Lite version of the popular Endura Singletrack II Shorts feature a familiar tailored fit and length but are claimed to have a ‘barely there’ feel, being lightweight and breathable without compromising durability.

Weight is kept to a minimum (193g regular length, 183g short length, both size small) by using lightweight fabric which can still take the wear and tear of trail riding. The material has been coated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water-repellent) treatment.

Known for its commitment to sustainability, Endura uses recycled fibres where possible and offers a repair service to keep the shorts going year after year – all to help reduce landfill and CO2 emissions.

The Lite version features laser-cut perforations for enhanced breathability, in place of the zippered air vents on the standard Singletrack II shorts.

A zippered fly with a popper closure gives the shorts a clean look. The elasticated Velcro adjuster tabs let you fine-tune the fit around the waist and there are silicone grippers.

There are three well-sized zippered pockets, with two on the front and one on the rear. Each of the pockets can take a mobile phone and other essentials without compromising how the shorts fit or hang.

For this season, Endura has given their Singletrack Lite shorts some vivid colours to choose from, but black also features.

These shorts tick several boxes right from the word go.

The high elastane content ensures stretch in all directions for an excellent fit, which can be altered via the adjuster tabs on the waistband.

The internal silicone gripper on the rear improves the stead-fast feel of the stretchy fabric. Only irregular readjustment was required.

The 13in inner seam length of the regular version works perfectly with knee pads, and the shorter 10in version is great without protection.

Both the short and regular shorts have the fit and styling to be worn on and off the bike.

The DWR coating worked well to ward off the worst summer showers and puddles with the water beading on the short’s surface.

The Endura Singletrack Lite shorts are seemingly timeless summer mountain bike shorts that offer the perfect balance between keeping you cool in the heat, protection from the odd scrape and splash on the trail, and exceptional fit.

To help you find the right MTB shorts, we sent our testers out on long trail and cross-country rides in 12 of the latest options, to check all-day comfort.

We also put the shorts through the washing machine to see whether any water-resistant treatments held up and make sure no damage occurred.
